About Dr. Alex Foxman
Dr. Alex Foxman trained in Internal Medicine at LAC+USC Medical Center — one of the largest public teaching hospitals in the United States — and has practiced medicine in Beverly Hills since 2003. Over more than two decades, he has built and led some of the most ambitious physician-led programs in Southern California: Beverly Hills Institute (a concierge internal medicine practice where he continues to see patients today), Mobile Physician Associates (serving homebound and disabled patients across LA County), and National ACO — one of only 51 Next Generation Accountable Care Organizations in the United States, where he served as co-founder and CMO, overseeing care for more than 32,000 Medicare patients across four states.
In 2022, he turned his full attention to obesity medicine. The GLP-1 clinical data was unambiguous: a real tool for a real disease. He founded Achieve around that conviction — and around a frustration built over two decades of watching obesity treated as a willpower problem rather than the biology problem it actually is. As he deepened that work, he earned board certification from the American Board of Obesity Medicine (DABOM), completing a dual certification held by fewer than 0.5% of physicians nationwide.
He then went further and became a patient himself. After losing 30 lbs on GLP-1 medication, a Full Body DEXA scan revealed what the scale never showed: lean muscle mass and bone density had declined in ways that no bathroom scale would catch. That clinical experience — documented in his six-part “Doctor Who Became the Patient” series — became the foundation for the Achieve body composition monitoring protocol.
“GLP-1 and GIP/GLP-1 medications work — the clinical evidence is clear. But they work significantly better when combined with medical supervision, nutrition guidance, and structured accountability. The Achieve program is built around this principle: medication alone is only part of the answer.”
